General Questions About Carrera Racetracks

What should I do if a spoiler, mirror, or other small part breaks off?

Small parts like mirrors, spoilers, and antennas are designed to be easily removed and re-attached. To prevent them from falling off or breaking during use, remove these parts before racing. They do not affect the vehicle's performance. You can find replacement small parts on our website or by using our Spare Part Finder.

What is the difference between analog or Evolution and Digital 132/124 Carrera Tracks?

Digital 132/124:
*With Digital, your cars are controlled independently on the track which allows you to race multiple cars on 2 lanes.
*Digital 1/32 allows up to 6 racers on 2 lanes with room on the track for 2 additional "ghost or pace cars" (we'll get to that in a minute). Digital 1/24 allows up to 4 cars total on the track at once.
*Add straights, curves, high banked curves, bridges, chicanes, and much more to your layout.
*Digital Racers can use both wired and wireless controllers.
*Digital cars can be run on both digital and analog tracks.
*Most Digital cars will come equipped with front and rear lights.
*Digital Lane Changing - you choose whether or not your car changes lanes or passes when going through a digital lane change section. If you press the trigger on your controller when entering these track sections you will change lanes, if you don't press the trigger you will stay in your lane.
*Real Fuel Race Mode - add a pit lane to your layout and monitor fuel consumption. If racing in "real fuel mode" and you do not enter the pit lane during the race, your car will start driving sporadically with the lights flashing, this indicates you are low on fuel.
*Adjustable Speed and Braking - Change the braking sensitivity (stop faster or slower when you release the gas). You also have the ability to set the power level of certain cars. If you have new or younger racers, set the speed to 20% power, let them learn how to race then boost it up after they get the hang of it.
*Pace and Ghost Cars - Ghost cars will race with you even if no one else can. Set the speed of the Ghost car and it will race against you and your opponents. Pace cars can be programmed to start a race if you have a pit lane.
*Digital Accessories - When you have the Digital Control Unit you can add a Driver Display which shows the amount of fuel your car has left before needing to pit. The Position Tower which lets each racer know where they are in the race. A lap counter, because of course you need to know who has the fastest lap. You can also add a Start Light, this will count down the race and let you know if anyone has a false start, no cheating!

Analog Carrera Tracks -Evolution (Analog 1/32):
*Analog allows you race one car per lane. On a standard 2 lane track you will have a total of 2 racers at a time. Hit the gas on your controller giving power to the track and away you go.
*Add straights, curves, high banked curves, bridges, chicanes and more to expand your track. Lane change sections are available, these are the lane changes that look like an "X" , as you enter this lane change you will automatically change lanes, later in your track you will need to have another lane change which will bringing you back to your original lane.
*Currently Carrera only offers wired controllers for Analog race tracks
*A Lap Counter will help keep track of times and the winners in your race.
*Both the Evolution and Digital 132/124 scale systems run on 1/24 scale track. If you want to start with analog, or have an analog set and want to upgrade you will be able to use the straights and curves from your existing Evolution set with your new digital track.

How Do I set up my AppConnect

Download Carrera's Race Management App to take control of all race and car settings. It can be downloaded on App Store and Google Play.
The Carrera AppConnect dongle needs to be plugged in to the Carrera Control Unit (will not work with the Black Box). It is ready for use as soon as the blue light is on.
The first time you start the App the system will ask if you want to update the firmware-select Update.
There always needs to be ONE mobile device to do the Race Control (to be the Master), which is directly connected to Carrera AppConnect. All others drivers connect to the Master (Race Control)
After adding an individual profile and confirming the role, next step is to connect with an available Carrera Control Unit
Connect mobile device to CU

When do you need an additional power feed for the track?

To avoid voltage loss on longer tracks, we recommend an additional power feed (5m or 10m) for track lengths around 12-15 meters.

What is the best way to care for my Carrera Cars?

Each vehicle comes with a maintenance manual. Regular cleaning and care, such as removing dust, dirt, hair and other debris are essential. Bearings and axle points should be cleaned and lubricated with acid-free oil or grease as per the instructions. More details, such as axle replacement and maintenance, can be found in the manual. Take a look at our product cscombo for a lubricant kit that will keep your car running smoothly.

Yes! Every previous rail fits into every new one and vice versa.

Why is my wireless controller not working?

If the hand controllers don't work outside the charging cradle (instead of blinking, the red light will go straight to solid once removed from charging pad), the batteries are likely deeply discharged. This situation isn't covered by the warranty. Even when not in use, charge the wireless hand controllers every 3 months. Deeply discharged batteries often can't regenerate and need replacement. Replacement batteries are available under item 89823
